Credit Reporting Specialist

Overview

The Credit Reporting Specialist is responsible for providing accurate credit reporting data to the major credit reporting agencies. This position analyzes and interprets account data, maintaining its ongoing integrity, and supporting our client needs. The Credit Reporting Specialist manages Vervent’s credit reporting data, servicing maintenance related to credit reporting, and respond to any related inquires across business lines.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Maintain knowledge of credit reporting rules and guidelines to use standard reporting electronic transmission and send customer reporting files to the appropriate credit reporting agencies once each month.
  • Ensure the credit reporting manual is followed to furnish accurate information about customers to the appropriate reporting agencies including usage of E-Oscar.  Experience with CM4 desired.
  • Collaborate with various business lines to ensure credit reporting integrity related to projects and initiatives is maintained at a high level
  • Identify and assist in developing procedures, updates, and job aids as needed
  • Review and analyze multiple exception and control reports to identify higher level issues and determine required action
  • Oversee system maintenance identified by business lines to ensure proper outcomes in credit reporting
  • Identify and manage emerging risks that stem from business activities related to credit reporting. Ensure risks are effectively measured, monitored, and controlled.
  • Follow written risk and compliance policies and procedures for business related activities
  • Serve as a resource and subject matter expert to team members on escalated issues and initiatives

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business management, computer science, or related field
  • Demonstrated knowledge of credit management lifecycle and credit reporting requirements
  • 3 – 5 years progressive experience in customer service, legal research, compliance or related field.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with various audiences including customers, team members, and attorneys, through written and verbal means.
  • Solid organizational skills, ability to work across teams, ability to focus on broader goals and customer level details simultaneously, and ability to multi-task effectively.
  • Strong working knowledge of computer software including Microsoft Office and Loan Servicing Software (NLS preferred)

Physical Requirements

The work is of an intellectual nature. While performing the functions of this job, the employee is required to stand and sit for prolonged periods. Specific vision abilities required include close and medium distance vision and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to hear normal sounds, distinguish sound as voice and communicate through human speech. This position requires the ability to operate a keyboard, computer mouse, telephone, fax, copier, writing tools, and other standard office equipment. On an occasion, an employee will be asked to lift items weighing up to 35 lbs.
